Lunch at the bright and airy Bibiana Osteria accomplishes a 3-course authentic Italian meal that will surely satisfy. Last year’s renovations, that swapped warm oranges for lively teals, along with large windows providing floor-to-ceiling natural light, create a sunny space on even the cloudiest winter day. The plates certainly do not fail to match the colorful space. Starting with the Barbabietole, a crafted arrangement of fresh baby beets and orange supremes, sprinkled with walnuts, goat cheese, and citrus dressing all on top of a decorative stroke of violet.
The menu is somehow light and fresh while simultaneously providing the warmth of savory comfort. You can refresh with a local burrata accompanied by tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and roasted peppers, or opt for the Polpette della Nonna, the chef’s grandmother’s meatballs, the essence of comfort food.
“I never had a toy, my toy was pasta dough”, Executive Chef Loris Navone muses about his nearly lifelong career in Italian kitchens. When he was 16, he left his home to travel across Italy, stopping at restaurants in each region of the country to learn exactly “how the food is made, in the place you make it”. Now, he hopes to bring this authenticity to the District. “What I want to achieve is the exact experience of being in Italy for every single guest that is going to sit at the restaurant” says Navone.
Bibiana offers a 3-course Business Lunch, including primi, secondi, and dessert for an affordable $28. Some highlights among the Business Lunch menu include a veal tenderloin, pan-seared Scottish salmon, and a traditional bolognese, finishing with a seasonal flavor of house-made gelati or sorbetti. The restaurant also offers Lunch at the Bar that includes one bowl, pizza, or sandwich, a drink, and a sorbet ($20).
